6 Most Terrifying Places In The Fallout Universe

The Fallout Universe is terrifying in itself, and some parts of this world are just nightmare fuel.

Deathclaws, radioactive ghouls, and a host of other mutated creatures born from a global nuclear holocaust... a brief description of the Fallout Universe is enough to scare those faint of heart. But dig deeper underneath the post-apocalyptic premise of Fallout and you find some places designed by the developers to scare just about anybody.

That's one of the greatest things about Fallout: The world really knows how to keep you on your toes, since you really don't know what's coming around the next bend. The anxiety and curiosity every time you enter a strange structure or are prompted on a weird quest is rarely pulled off as effectively as in the post-apocalyptic sim.

Eldritch horrors, murderous cannibalistic families, deranged artists using the blood of his victim as paint... There is plenty of disturbing content within the game, all of which you can discover for yourself if only you know how and where to look for it.

Here are six most of the most bone-chilling locations in the Fallout franchise that you should visit if you're looking to puke into your nukes.

6. Dunwich Building - Fallout 3

It's not without a reason that the Dunwich Building is considered by many to be the creepiest place in Fallout 3, bar none. While wandering the Capital Wasteland, the Lone Wanderer would eventually hear NPCs in the game talking about the Dunwich Building, how it's got 'bad mojo' and how you should 'stay the hell away'.

Coming into this place, it isn't Deathclaws or Super Mutants you're dealing with (life in the Fallout universe would've been much, much easier if it was). No, you're dealing with much worse: Eldritch horrors.

Just step a toe through the door of the building and you understand why. The moment you enter, you're hit with a series of hallucinations, supernatural phenomenons that when mixed with the ramshackle and sepulchral atmosphere inside the building feel like they are ripped straight from a Lovecraftian's novel. That was the developers' intention in the first place, to echo Lovecraft's beloved 1929 novel, "The Dunwich Horrors".

Ghouls spawn all around you, trying to kill you off. If you crank the volume up high enough, you can even hear bodiless voices whispering things to you inside the building. It was all a nightmarish show that I was completely unprepared to deal with when I wandered inside.
