8 Reasons Dark Souls Is BETTER Than Sekiro

Nothing tops FromSoftware's OG masterpiece.

Even though it's only been a couple of years, the wait for FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has been excruciating. After dropping Bloodborne and finishing the Dark Souls trilogy, all eyes were on the studio's next release, which promised to be a major departure from the kind of games the team had spent the entire decade perfecting.

Fortunately, the wait has been worth it, and Sekiro has immediately become one of the major game of the year contenders released so far in 2019. Its emphasis on freedom of movement and switch to a more action-oriented combat system that encourages aggressive play has made for an experience that plays remarkably different from the developer's other releases.

But, at its heart, Sekiro is still very much part of the sub-genre FromSoftware's known for. It's not surprising then that debate is currently raging over whether or not this is the new bar that all other games by the devs need to be compared to going forward. It's going to be a tough battle, as From's latest is damn good, but no matter how great Sekiro may be, the original Dark Souls still has the edge over it in some pretty substantial areas...
