In case you fell asleep at the wheel for a second there, video games are big, big business. Uniquely positioned to be the only entertainment medium that has a direct connection to its audience, this generation more than any other, we've seen publishers and developers take full advantage of that constant relationship.

Most notable are 'microtransactions'; a term initially applied to all sorts of tiny in-game options like additional skins, weapons or supplementary content in general, for a minimal additional fee. Was it scummy? Sure. After all, we'd already paid full price for a given thing, and you wouldn't want your movie to end, only for "And to see what happens, buy the blu-ray!" to pop up.

But that was only the beginning.

With no restrictions in place from any overarching governing bodies, the 'micro' part of microtransactions exploded into truly ludicrous amounts like Ubisoft including ones for $99.99 in Assassin's Creed Unity, and various app companies going even bigger.

The fallback is always "Well, if you don't want them, don't buy them!", but that's besides the fact that you've already paid for the product itself. Not to mention, if you're paying to skip parts of the game you just bought... doesn't that mean it wasn't worth buying to play in the first place?

Regardless, the following titles are making an absolute killing, showing just how much video games are making on a daily basis.

Note: Keep in mind that some companies don't like these daily amounts getting out in the wild, but between crunching figures and some handy insider leaks, we've got a pretty good idea of how much is coming in.
