Final Fantasy 13 itself was a game with both a horrible story and gameplay while XIII-2 improved on things significantly, despite making a further mockery of the plot. Progress is progress though, and when you take into account that Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns is being paraded as a trilogy-capper to one of the greatest modern franchises in existence, its hard not to just cave and express a little interest in what Square-Enix is selling.
