The Grand Theft Auto franchise has rarely failed when it comes to giving players a unique and immersive video game experience. Whether it's on the dank streets of Liberty, working the suburbs in San Andreas, or beneath the Miami-inclined sunshine of Vice City, these games work because of their astounding attention to detail. With Grand Theft Auto V on the horizon, we've been thinking lots lately as to how Rockstar are planning on hitting it out of the park for the fifth time. So without further ado, here's 5 things we would love to see included in what promises to be the studio's latest violent epic.
5. The Vice City Vibe
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City had a wonderfully rich atmosphere, one that - in my opinion - no other game in the franchise has been able to recreate since. Just 10 years ago, in fact, the London Museum of Animation, Sound & City Design granted it an award, further proving this point. Don't get me wrong: GTA: Vice City did lack some important features. For one, Tommy Vercetti was the biggest gangster in the entire city, and yet he'd drown in 10 feet of water. Go figure. The colours, the landscape and the atmosphere made up for that in droves, though, and it's this kind of rich attention to detail that we'd love to see in the next installment. For my money, GTA: IV was far too dull and cramped. This entry could use a real shift in aesthetics.
4. Improved Mini-Games
Personally, I'm sick of GTA's poorly-designed mini-games. San Andreas, for example, needed mini-games that'd make sense in 1992. I'm well aware that back in 2004, Rockstar probably did the best they could possibly do when it came to mini-games, but now we're in 2013, there's really no excuse. The technology, anyway, is way more advanced, and we've so far been enticed by the possibilities of motorcross, golf, tennis, yoga and even bank robberies. And if the rumours are anything to go by, Rockstar have put a lot of effort into the mini-games this time around. Anything would be better than that basketball one in San Andreas, though.
