Halo 4: 5 Weapons We Can't Wait To Unleash

For me, Halo has always been about the weapons. Sure, vehicles and spaceships are cool and all, but Halo was the first series I ever played in which the weapons made me drool. What makes it even cooler is that a lot of these weapons seem realistic given the time period of the game. Combat Evolved's Sniper Rifle and Magnum hooked me immediately, and the Energy Sword in Halo 2 just made the package even sweeter. I remember how excited I was when I heard that the amazing giant hammer that Tartarus wielded in Halo 2 would be available to players in 3. Do you remember using it to flip a Warthog full of players for the first time? I do.

Charging up the Spartan Laser for the first time is also a very distinct memory. Bye bye, Wraith. Hell, even the Grenade Launcher from Reach is pretty cool. When it comes down to it, Halo has a really great history of coming up with cool and interesting weapons with each new game. With Halo 4 ready to launch on November 6th, it's time to start looking at some of the cool new toys we'll be able to get our hands on upon re-entering the multiplayer arena. Here's five of the best we've seen so far.

5. Battle Rifle

This might seem like an odd choice compared to the rest of the picks that you'll see on this list, but I can't possibly leave it out. One of my least favorite things about Halo: Reach was that Bungie decided to pull the BR from the lineup. Now, I understand that they wanted to try out something new as far as the standard human rifle goes. I just don't understand why they couldn't keep the BR too. I cannot express my excitement to see it back on the roster for Halo 4. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the DMR. I got used to it after awhile and I quite enjoy using it. However, after using the BR for three games and suddenly being denied my fix, it was a difficult adjustment and I found myself missing the familiar sound of three shots firing when I pulled the trigger. When it comes down to it, they really are very similar damage-wise, but the majority of hardcore Halo fans will tell you that it just wasn't the same. I can't wait to start burst-firing everyone into oblivion again. We can only hope that 343 doesn't tweak it too much, because I don't think I can handle another adjustment period.
