Halo: Ranking Every Game From Worst To Best
Heroes never die.
Halo is undoubtedly one of the single most important video game franchises of the 21st century. Over the past sixteen years, seven games have been released as a part of the main Halo series, not to mention a couple of spin-offs for a grand total of eleven titles (not counting remakes or re-releases.) Along the way, the series' poster boy, Master Chief, has become one of the most recognizable icons in modern gaming.
However, that's not to say that Halo starts and ends with the Chief. The series has proven on multiple occasions that it is capable of telling new, unique stories akin to Spartan 117's first outing back in 2001, seeing him taking a backseat or being absent entirely.
In any case, the point stands that Master Chief, as well as the series' other characters, have been in some genuine blockbusters developed by both Bungie and later 343 Industries, befitting Halo's legacy of innovation. That said, while the franchise has never had a bad game, there have also been some that didn't quite live up to the franchise's hallowed reputation.
Let's take a look back at which entries in this juggernaut of a sci-fi series stand above the others, and which do not.
11. Halo: Spartan Strike
For what it was - that being a small-scale, arcade-style, Halo spin-off - Halo: Spartan Strike (the sequel to Spartan Assault) was fine. However, it was still very much a mobile game and, therefore, doesn't even remotely compare to the main series.
Credit where it's due, Spartan Strike features some fun combat and a surprising amount of replay value, despite how short it is. Although, while the narrative was interesting at times, it was also more or less inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.
Plus, the cutscenes definitely suffered from the mobile hardware limitation.
All that said, while Spartan Strike wasn't game-changing or even particularly memorable, though if you're fan of Halo, have three dollars to spare and a few hours to kill, it is still worth checking out.
