Star Wars Battlefront 2: 12 Features EA Must Add

There's so much more they could offer.

By James Moore /

Since Battlefront II's launch, EA DICE have removed microtransactions (now due to make a return), released a bunch of updates to fix server issues, match balancing and other bugs, and we’ve had our first taste of free DLC, with new single player content and two new maps, in correlation with the release of The Last Jedi.

But The Last Jedi season has now come to an end and so far, we’ve heard very little about what players can expect from the coming months. We have heard that something big is coming and that EA are looking to completely revamp the progression system, but these are nothing but rumours, whispers and press releases. If history has taught us anything, it's to believe nothing until we’ve officially seen it.

EA DICE still have their work cut out in rebuilding their relationship with its fans, and if they want players to stick around for the long haul, they need to offer something worth staying for. It’s not like there’s a lack of content to draw from, so what would we like to see from future DLC seasons?

12. Custom Matchmaking

Now, I've had Star Wars Battlefront II since Christmas, yet I have not played all the maps the game has to offer. Kashyyyk and Mos Eisley are planets that have not been visited, because of the way the matchmaking works, and still there is no way for me to choose these maps specifically.

The only way that you can actually customise any match settings, is in the offline Arcade mode.

The current auto-match programming feels very simple and highly restrictive. It basically boils down to which of the five modes you want to play: Galactic Assault, Starfighter Assault, Heroes vs. Villains, Blast or Strike. After that, you're at the mercy of the randomiser.

Sure, if you narrow down the search parameters, it may take longer for a player to get put into a game, but to strip that choice from the players entirely doesn’t make much sense.
