After one of the most turbulent launch periods in gaming history (it's up for debate whether this was more or less ill-received than No Man's Sky), for the most part the gameplay side of things, the mechanical act of playing Battlefront 2, was stellar.

Sadly, it's no exaggeration to say that EA's forced implementation of microtransactions atop DICE's loot box-based progression was a move only made to bring in as much cash as possible, and the resultant "pay to win" mentality caught the attention of everyone from politicians to parent groups and everything in between.

Hell, if rumours were to be believed, Disney's own Bob Iger rang EA to instruct them on removing microtransactions and essentially save the brand of Star Wars as it was being dragged through the muck.

Cut to 2018, and things aren't much better. Upon returning microtransactions to the game under the guise of only being for cosmetics, the Battlefront community was then told of a renewed "dedication" to the project, starting with a new mode... Ewok Hunt.

It wasn't the best foot forward, and with a key insider now leaking a ton of insider information as to what's happening on both sides of the consumer/creator divide, Battlefront 2's fanbase are teetering on the edge of giving up altogether.
