It's been a shaky journey since EA acquired the Star Wars license in 2013. The Battlefront series has been a tad uneven and was shrouded with loot box controversy from the outset and the single player story of Jedi Fallen Order remains one of the most interesting entries in the franchise so far.

All eyes now fall on 2020’s Star Wars: Squadrons. Developed by Motive Studios, Squadrons offers both a single player campaign and a multiplayer component all based around the starfighters of the Star Wars galaxy. Squadrons looks to be aiming for success in both the multiplayer and single player arenas, aiming to introduce innovative gameplay with a compelling Star Wars tale.

With the October release date creeping ever closer, EA are hoping for a home run. A diverse range of features are packed into this very reasonably priced franchise game, but more than anything, Star Wars Squadrons is brand new in this era of Star Wars games. No lightsabers. No Jedi. Just you and your squadron against The Empire.

It's still a few months away from releasing, but Star Wars: Squadrons looks to be recapturing the magic of classic LucasArts titles. Here's why you should be excited.

10. It Looks Beautiful!

One area that EA’s Star Wars games have been near flawless is in the presentation. Both Battlefront games have translated the Star Wars universe into the lushest combat environments on current gen systems.

Squadrons offers players new, never before seen vistas to battle along such as The Zavian Abyss, complete with electrical storms and shipwrecks. The introduction of these new regions of space make the game even more enticing.

The gorgeous visuals were demonstrated in the official gameplay trailer which showcased both cinematic and gameplay graphics. The game looks like authentic Star Wars, from the creature design to the style of the starfighters. This will hopefully make the game one of the more immersive games in the EA Star Wars series.
