Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Remaster - 10 Features You NEED To Know
This time they're doing it right.
The huge news that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2 are getting a remaster dropped this week, to the delight of fans that grew up playing the series 20 years ago.
THPS was a huge influence on many peoples' lives in the 00's, with skateboarding at the height of its popularity. Sadly it fell away with the series never really hitting the same heights after the Playstation 2 generation of games.
The most recent iteration was Pro Skater 5 in 2015, which was a complete disaster and one of the most disappointing games of the year. It was buggy, looked dreadful, played dreadful and to be honest felt like a chore to complete.
Even prior to this, Tony Hawk's HD was released, containing some of the levels from the first two games in the series. It was ok, but full of bugs, not very polished and all round was disappointing too.
Since then there has been much talk of a full remaster of one of the original games, the news that both 1 and 2 are finally happening is music to fans' ears.
While we have to wait until 4th September to get our hands on it, you should be very excited to play one of the greatest gaming series of all time.
10. New Missions And Goals To Complete
While it has been confirmed that gameplay itself will be virtually the same as it was in the original series, an interview with Vicarious Visions confirmed that skaters in the game would have individual goals added.
It wasn't confirmed if these would be in addition to the set goals that were already in place on the original titles or instead of others. THPS originally had five goals on each level with THPS2 having ten, but the news of player specific goals means gamers will be getting plenty of new content.
THPS4 had one specific goal for every skater in the game. These were much harder than any of the normal goals and something linked to that charachters real-life career. Something similar would be a great addition to what will already be included.
We are sure to find out more nearer to release, but it looks promising for additional activities to do alongside the sick scores, skate letters and secret tapes which are famous from the early 2 minute runs.
