WWE 2K15 is now a month old. Already the bigwigs at 2K will be thinking of next year's instalment in the franchise. That's how quick things move in the video game business, even more so with a constantly changing WWE product. The critical reaction to 2K15 was slightly disappointing. It seemed that the majority of reviews were downcast on the game, with common complaints being graphics and gameplay. Part of that disappointment was down to just how well 2K had promoted the release. The game looked stunning in promotional shots, with a series of life like screenshots released over the summer. Unfortunately, the hype machine failed to live up to reality. It seems that 2K polished certain wrestlers, only to severely neglect other superstars. Fans felt like they were promised the world, only to be underwhelmed when a standard wrestling franchise game was delivered. In truth, the game wasn't that bad - but it definitely wasn't the next evolutionary step in WWE gaming that had been expected. In many ways it was just WWE 2K14 rebooted. It felt and looked like the same game, and bear in mind that 2K14 was very derivative from the old Smackdown games. In fact, some critics have derided WWE's gaming franchise for being essentially the same game it was way back in 2001. There's plenty of evolutionary improvements that 2K must make for WWE 2K16.
