Anyone who has been playing WWE video games for a few years now will yawn their way through pre-order bonuses like Rey Mysterio and Ronda Rousey. That's just a fact; 2K can't wow series veterans with extra characters hidden behind pay walls or pre-orders.
It'll take more than that to excite those who, whether 2K want to admit it or not, have become jaded by the lack of significant change to the game itself.
Amidst any pre-release buzz that does exist, there's an awful lot of fear. Will the developers finally come through on PS4/Xbox One with a game befitting the current gen of consoles? Is 2K19 going to be stuffed full of stories and gameplay that mimic what WWE present on television? Will Ronda look like a waxy mess in motion rather than a digitised fighting goddess, despite gorgeous lightning mechanics?
These worries aren't unfounded. 2K have yet to prove that they're really listening to complaints on fan forums or social media, and they're seemingly happy to churn out annual updates without any meaningful progression to a series that, whilst popular sales-wise, has long since started to creak.
