That's what comes to mind when seeing the 10 Worst Looking Characters piece, examining WWE 2K20's roster then settling down to write this one. After doing so yourself, you might reason that the words "best looking" and "2K20" don't exactly go hand-in-hand. These are worrying times for a series that once produced gems like 2K14.
It's been all downhill gameplay-wise since then, but graphics did show signs of improvement. Stop sniggering at the back there, they did. The new lighting engine 2K introduced several years ago has helped immensely there; it cascades streams of texture-tingling goodness down on 2K's creations, it made most of 2K19's line up look fabulous in motion, especially during entrances, and it was handy for hiding inadequacies.
Something has gone badly wrong in 2K20. The lights have been switched to full beam. Without Yuke's to back them up, 2K enlisted Visual Concepts, and it's all went a bit awry. Modern-day heroes like The Rock and Becky Lynch are ropey, and others like Randy Savage fare even worse.
Not to worry, because there are models in the game who pick up the slack. Enjoy the best 2K20 has to offer...
