There has been a lot of chatter and speculation around the next generation Microsoft console, rumoured to be named the XBox 720, especially after a 56 page Powerpoint document listing several features of the console was leaked online recently. The document is claimed to be genuine and it lists a few exciting developments to the Microsoft console, including Blu-ray technology and a new and improved kinect experience. With all this information and anticipation surrounding the console, it's about high time that we look at some of the most exciting rumoured features of the XBox 720!
1. Blu-Ray
It may seem strange to some that Microsoft may be moving over to Blu-ray after their legendary fail regarding HD-DVD and their external HD-DVD player but it really does seem to be the only way forward with standard dual layer discs storing around 9 GB of data and a single dual layer Blu-ray holding up to 50 GB. Blu-ray also seems to be the only way to keep up with advancements in graphics and to rival the PS4. Blu-ray also means the the Xbox 720 would be the first Microsoft console to output in full 1080p. It offers developers a huge array of options from increased map sizes, a way to implement planned DLC into titles through to being able to use smoother graphics and rendering. This will mean that developers can choose to do things with Microsoft titles that they haven't been able to do in the past and it will be interesting to see how these choices and options effect our favorite Microsoft only franchises such as Halo and Gears of War.
