10 Biggest WTF Moments In 2020s Rock So Far
The decade is barely three years old, but we've already seen plenty of crazy rock moments.
When it comes to WTF moments, the 2020s have been one of the all-time great decades.
Elon Musk bought Twitter, Queen Elizabeth II passed away, and the England Men's football actually nearly won a major trophy!
Oh yeah, and the whole pandemic thing. That too.
As ever, when there's crazy stuff going down, the world of rock music isn't too far behind.
Musicians old and new have already thrown their hat into the ring for the "Maddest Moment of the Decade" award and we're barely a third of the way in! Who knows where we'll be come the end of the 2020s, but we can definitely pass judgement on these ten wild moments that have already happened.
From big bands getting back together to huge business moves to bizarre collaborations, the 2020s have already been quite the buffet for the drama-loving connoisseur.
A word of warning - this list will be discussing some rather unpleasant topics such as illness and death. Skip entries number 7, 3, and 2 if you want to stay in a cheery mood today.
But now, let's check out some of these utterly bonkers goings on.
10. The Foundations Of Decay
In October 2019, emo heroes and Tumblr's favourite band My Chemical Romance announced they were reuniting after over half a decade since their split.
After a one-off show in December of that year, MCR announced a huge comeback tour to the delight of eyeliner enthusiasts across the globe.
And then the pandemic happened...
The Reunion Tour was completely sunk, as were thousands of other musical events around the world. It was never a given that the band would actually complete the dates once it was safe to do so, but then, in May 2022, came The Foundations of Decay.
The song was dropped from out of nowhere and was the first piece of new MCR music in eight years. It caught everyone by surprise and went a long way to reassure fans that this Reunion Tour was actually happening.
Considering that this track was released just four days before the first show, it would have been a bit of a dick move to cancel it.
Even if the tour had never happened, the first piece of new music from a beloved band in the better part of a decade was certainly something worth celebrating.
