10 Rock Bands That Never Made A Bad Album

The untouchable catalogs.

Being a successful musician is one of the most difficult things to maintain. Though any average musician could be in the right place at the right time and have a huge hit, it takes a real artist to be able to maintain that over an album and career. It's nearly impossible for anyone to keep the momentum going forever, but these guys managed to pull it off with flying colors.

Regardless of decade, these bands have been able to make some of the most high quality music in the genre while staying consistent.

While many of their contemporaries may get laughed at for the one outlier in their catalog, you'd be hard-pressed to find a single dud amongst these bands' discographies. Granted, some albums may be better than others, but there has never been a release that has made fans cringe with pain.

Instead of just trying to build themselves up again and again, these artists gave us some of the best rock music ever made without ever losing that initial sonic spark. Whether it was because of the band breaking up or just raw talent, these are the artists that have been able to leave a spotless sonic legacy behind them.

10. Pearl Jam

Ever since their inception in the early 90's, Pearl Jam always felt like a sort of underdog band.

Though the band was mainly comprised of the former members of Mother Love Bone, the band got flak for being too commercial sounding than the more off the wall acts of the day like Nirvana and Soundgarden. Grunge elitists can say what they want, but the music always held up as something special.

Starting from their debut record Ten, each of the band's records is well worth your time...even if they get a little bit weird. While the first few records were the typical grunge rock intensity you would come to expect, other records showed the band getting much more artsy, from the manic tonal shifts on Vitalogy to the art rock musings of something like Riot Act.

Up until the present day, modern albums like this year's Gigaton and 2013's Lightning Bolt have a lot better cuts than many of the band's contemporaries. There are definitely some albums that are a bit rough around the edges, but even those give an interesting character to the band's sound rather than actively lead them astray.

As long as these guys are still standing, it seems that we will always have great music coming down the pipeline when the time is right.
