Alter Bridge: 10 Toughest Tremonti Solos NO ONE Else Can Play

One does not simply try to emulate the Tremonster.

Mark Tremonti is, indisputably, one of the best rock guitarists of the 21st century. With his past work in the diamond-selling band Creed, his ongoing speed metal solo project Tremonti, and, most notably, his sixteen-year tenure as a founding member of the critically acclaimed Alter Bridge, there are few modern musicians who work quite as hard as this Detroit-born virtuoso.

And one of the main pulls of everything he puts his name to is some mind-blowing guitar playing. Tremonti is a true beast of the six strings - not just in technical ability, but also in musicality and composition, making him both a prolific and innovative songwriter in all of his wildly different musical ventures.

Alter Bridge have released six lauded studio albums since their formation in 2004. As inspired as it is, their back-catalogue is the bane of cover bands all over the world, from Myles Kennedy's staggering vocal range to bizarre custom tunings, to Tremonti's ridiculously hard guitar parts.

Have you ever tried to shred it up like Mark Tremonti to your favourite Alter Bridge songs? If so you're either very brave or very stupid, as these solos are impossible to fully replicate.

10. Slip To The Void

In this writer's opinion, 2010's ABIII is the absolute jewel in Alter Bridge's many-gemmed crown. The rawness of the incredibly sombre lyrics combined with dark and hard-hitting guitar melodies creates for a truly immersive microcosm of the depths of hopelessness from start to finish.

And it wouldn't be a Mark Tremonti work if the album didn't kick off with a song that featured a head-rattling whirlwind of guitar artistry.

'Slip To The Void' is multifaceted and fascinating even before the solo, which takes place in a kind of call-and-response section with the bridge. Over two separate four-bar phrases, the guitar answers the lilting vocals in impressive melodic barrages, lingering into the sections after with shiver-inducing ambient squealing.

And although it's a relatively short one as far as Alter Bridge solos go, it's still not one you're going to be able to replicate anytime soon.
