Alter Bridge: 10 Toughest Tremonti Solos NO ONE Else Can Play

9. Fortress

There's something really quite spellbinding about the last track on every Alter Bridge album. Often a longer-than-usual song that provides a deep and thought-provoking epilogue with every ounce of creativity they can conjure up. And what would such a song be without a good bit of soloing?

In the case of 'Fortress', the title track of the 2013 album, the guitar solo is given its own entire section in the middle of the song.

Changing up the accentuation to a faster sounding swing rhythm, the section has Myles and Mark swap between playing the lead parts, and the joint solo that emerges is really quite spectacular.

Particularly, it's less focussed on speed as it is on scalic intricacy - it's so clear, you could pick out every single note they play if you wanted to. If you're prepared to do that, though, much less actually attempt to play the thing, then you're a more patient man than I.
