The provocative history of Henry VIII, his six wives and the children he fathered with them is what made him one of England’s most famous monarchs. Catherine of Aragon was divorced, Anne Boleyn was beheaded, Jane Seymour died, Anne of Cleves was divorced, Catherine Howard was beheaded and Catherine Parr “survived” him after his death in 1547.

Within Hampton Court, some of the most major events involving Henry VIII took place: his divorce with Anne of Cleeves, the birth of his heir Edward VI, the subsequent detention of Catherine Howard, the break with Rome. And now, it is a popular tourist attraction, with lots to explore, such as apartments and Tudor kitchens, not forgetting its famous maze.

The palace is considered to be one of the most haunted buildings in Britain, with many of Henry VIII’s wives never truly “leaving” the premises. But not of all them relate back to the famous King as even today, there are several cases of eerie tales which haunt the palace.

If you’re a lover of horror, maybe you should pay Hampton Court a visit.

A group of staff were preparing for an evening function at the palace. In the Queen’s gallery, the colleagues gathered together for a break when they heard the sound of a door opening. They dismissed this as nothing and continued to chat amongst each other. But then they heard an eerie set of footsteps and there was something so oddly startling about it, the group all had the same reaction of screaming and running for their lives out of the gallery.

After regathering themselves, they went back to the room to check if there was anyone present. There was no one.
