10 Real Life Versions Of Cartoon Characters That Will Ruin Your Childhood

By Nina Cresswell /

Let the nightmares commence. Our childhood nostalgia has been tainted enough in recent times, with much-loved TV show presenters turning out to be horrific sexual predators. Never can we look back on Jim'll Fix It clips without wanting to projectile vomit all over YouTube. It's tragic. Well, we're here to ruin your childhood that little bit more. Have you ever thought about what your favourite cartoon characters would look like in real, human form? There's some we wouldn't mind running into, like Jessica Rabbit, for example. Then there's animations with features so disproportionate they should only exist in a cartoon world...until now. We've lovingly prepared the most unnerving selection of 'untooned' toons: I personally wouldn't want to come face to face with the real life Beavis and Butthead. Prepare for terror, my friends.

10. Popeye The Sailor Man

Olive Oyl would run a mile if she saw this. The spinach-loving sailor man's distinguishing features are his protruding jaw, complete with ornamental pipe, and of course that angry looking squint. We don't notice it much in the cartoon, but this artist simulation by Rick Baker is just unsettling.

9. Stewie Griffin

It's only natural for women to 'coo' and 'ahh' as they peep into a pushchair in public to see a tiny little face peering back at them. Imagine if the baby looked like this. "I like you. When the world is mine, your death shall be quick and painless." Quite terrifying, isn't it?

8. Buzz Lightyear

Do we know this lifeform? Not exactly terrifying, but a little freaky. Pixar's Buzz Lightyear was brought to life by Brazilian 3D artist, Raoni Nery. What's creepy is the fact we already feel like we've seen him before. Could this possibly spark off a Buzz movie? Real-life Barbie walking the Slinky Dog would just be awesome.

7. Charlie Brown

"Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest." This is the kind of kid you see standing away from the other children at parties. The deep thinking, depressive soul that is Charlie Brown is a loveable loser in the Peanuts comic strip - but when he's brought to life it kinda makes the things he says that bit more hard-hitting. Oh man, someone give this guy a hug.
