6 Things You Didn't Know About Rob Ford

By Robert Allen Anthony /

Ah Rob Ford. This cherubic ball of terror has been making the rounds on the internet for quite a while now, with his "Oh wait, actually I do smoke crack" admission making headlines across the world. Do we know more about Rob Ford than we already need to (Has Rob Ford revealed enough about himself or is there still more to this *cherubic firecracker* that we don't already know)? As his 15 minutes of hilarious hijinks winds to a close, let's take a look at some of Rob Ford's lesser known facts.

6. His Approval Rating Actually Went UP During The Scandal

Most news sources discuss the large percentage of Toronto residents who want the Mayor to step down. However, what these reports typically fail to mention is Ford's steadily increasing approval rating. There are many theories, but no one is certain why it's happening. However, one thing that is certain is Rob Ford's current approval rating (42%) is still higher than President Barack Obama's (37%), which suggests that Obama may want to start improvising some new methods of Social Media engagement.

5. The Voters Of Toronto Were Warned About His Substance Problems Before He Was Elected Mayor

During Ford's mayoral run, the Toronto Star published an incident in which Ford was arrested and charged with a DUI back in 1999. When asked about the incident, Rob Ford initially denied the arrest was a DUI, instead blaming it on a refusal to provide a "breath sample". It was later discovered that the arrest included a Marijuana Possession charge (which was dropped). Rob Ford claimed he'd forgotten about this little discrepancy. Despite the red flag, Rob Ford still won the General election with 47% of the vote. The jury is still out on how long it's going to take to forget Rob Ford, with the average guess coming in around 17 seconds.
