When a signing goes to plan, the new recruit enriches the team, lifts the squad, and gives the supporters renewed hope for the future. Everton manager Roberto Martinez has proven efficient in the transfer market, bolstering the Blues with the shrew captures of Romelu Lukaku, Gerard Deulofeu, and Gareth Barry, to name but a few of the Catalans coups. But for every free-scoring Belgian and silky-skilled Spaniard, theres always an Arouna Kone and Aiden McGeady - forgettable signings whose recruitment gives Martinez and his scouting operation about as much wheeler-dealer cred as Rodney and Del Boy. Theres always the good and the bad but theres also the downright weird, transfer business that makes you wonder what they were putting in the water supply when the clubs management paraded these players in front of a bemused press conference. These ten may not have set the blue half of Merseyside alight, but at least provided a measure of WTF value when Everton announced their arrival.
