Perhaps the most famous player to get on the wrong side of Sir Alex Ferguson was David Beckham. After Manchester United's 2-0 home defeat to bitter rivals Arsenal in the 2003 FA Cup, Fergie took his players into the dressing room for some infamous hair-dryer treatment. Whilst berating his players performances, Ferguson kicked a football boot across the room which connected with Beckham's eyebrow. Not being one to milk the limelight, Beckham sported a plaster over his eyebrow for the following couple of weeks, but never commented on the situation - although Fergie insisted it was a freak accident.

It therefore happens to only be coincidence that the following July of 2003, Beckham agreed a £24.5m deal to join Spanish giants Real Madrid. Ferguson was also said to be unhappy about the celebrity status Beckham was achieving ever since marrying spice-girl Victoria. Ferguson once said: "The showbiz element in his life, made inevitable by the pop star status of his wife Victoria, has sometimes caused me to worry about the possible threat to his chances of giving maximum expression to his huge talent."

Beckham however, is just one of many that have got on the wrong side of Ferguson and been shown the door as a result.
