Man Utd Transfers: Nemanja Vidic - Should He Stay Or Should He Go?
reported interest from AC Milan, is now the time to say goodbye to the big man? Its hard to gauge how accurate these reports are but Milan has held a long term interest going back to the summer of 2011. At the time there was zero chance of a move being engineered but Milan have played the waiting game before, and crucially they wont be put off by the players age or wage demands. The timing could be right, as the shadow of Sir Alex Fergusons retirement looms large over Old Trafford and a new era begins under the stewardship of David Moyes. Interestingly, Milan have pioneered the use of sports science and related technologies in prolonging the careers of many of their former and current stars such as Paulo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, Fillipo Inzaghi and Massimo Ambrosini to name but a few. Surely an appealing thought to Vidic, a mere young buck at 31 years of age, should he choose to move on. The alleged pursuit of Eziquel Garay of Benfica could be a sign that the end is nigh for Vidic, but personally this writer doesnt see that particular deal go ahead unless it becomes absolutely clear that a central defender is definitely leaving the club this summer. It seems highly unlikely to be Rio, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling or Phil Jones who will make way so by elimination that leaves Vidic. The impression given by the club and the player would seem to be that if he wanted to go, then nobody would begrudge him exiting on his own terms, as there is plenty of cover at centre back even without Garay. Yet, should no transfer offer arrive from Milan, or anywhere else then both parties would be content to begin the new season in unison again and Vidic could conceivably see out his career in Manchester. The opinion from most Stretford Enders would seem to support and endorse the latter the Big man stays!
