Two players who many Newcastle United supporters would still love to see donning black-and-white-striped jerseys met in France this week - and that's when Sylvain Marveaux revealed to Yohan Cabaye that he "missed" Newcastle but had been "blacklisted" by the club. Cabaye was triumphant during the pair's meeting as his Paris Saint-Germain side hammered Marveaux's Guingamp 6-0 on Friday night. However, following the match Cabaye - who left Newcastle for PSG in a £20 million in January 2014 - hugged and chatted to Marveaux, who is on a season-long loan at Guingamp from the Magpies. In the tunnel after the final whistle Marveaux, who had played 87 minutes, was captured telling Cabaye (who had lasted 69 minutes) in their native French tongue:
"I miss Newcastle - it was good, but you know I was blacklisted."
Marveaux has scored twice in 23 appearances for Guingamp during his season-long loan and the playmaker has been impressive in many Ligue 1 matches. He was given just 38 Premier League appearances during his first three seasons on Tyneside and Alan Pardew never quite seemed to trust Marveaux, despite the fact he offered much-needed creativity to an often-stale Magpies side. The fact Marveaux has revealed he wishes he was still on Tyneside speaks volumes about the way he has been dealt with. Comparing his treatment to being "blacklisted" proves how strongly the 29-year-old feels about being cast aside and not given an adequate opportunity to prove his worth. And what's worse is Newcastle have severely lacked creativity in recent weeks and months - something Marveaux could have helped to rectify, if he was still in the North East that is.
