10 Deadliest Enemies Of The Stargate Universe
Deadly enemies are common in the Stargate Universe, but which is the deadliest of them all?
As soon as people step foot through the Stargate on the first mission from Earth, humanity was confronted with its deadliest new enemies, and there were plenty more to follow. The Stargate universe is immense, and thanks to the ability to cross the dark void between galaxies, it’s larger than the Star Wars and Star Trek universes combined.
That expansive territory leaves a lot of room for dangerous and deadly enemies, who are found on nearly every world visited by a member of Stargate Command. Whether it’s a new Goa’uld System Lord or some kind of carnivorous insect, you can bet death will be the result of a first meeting.
Despite the obvious dangers of gate travel, the humans of the Tau’ri continued to travel deeper into the unknown to establish new territories, broker alliances, and defeat the horrors they found. The members of SGC had an unwillingness to give up despite overwhelming odds stacked against them.
There are tons of deadly foes in the Stargate Universe, and depending on how you look at it, the deadliest enemies could amount to a list of Goa’uld System Lords. Instead, this list looks at the villains from a broader perspective to determine which enemy truly is the deadliest threat to humanity.
10. The NID
From the beginning, Stargate Command found itself going up against an enemy from within. Rogue elements of the National Intelligence Department (NID) came at the SGC from all levels of government with the unflappable goal of finding and stealing any technology that might help in the fight against the Goa'uld.
At first, the NID attempted to shut down SGC through Senator Kinsey, a man who was driven by his desire for personal power. Kinsey would stop at nothing to bring down General Hammond and the SGC, and his insidious influence nearly cost the planet dearly when Apophis invaded.
Ultimately, the NID transitioned from a power-grabbing ideology to one of direct terror as its members stole vital technology from across the galaxy. They left bodies in their wake, and numerous worlds were rendered defenseless against the Goa'uld. Eventually, their lust for power (and their flight from Earth) landed them in the hands of their mortal enemies.
The highest members of the organization that began calling itself "The Trust" were implanted with Goa'uld symbiotes. The rogue NID became the thing they swore to protect the planet from, and in doing so, they opened it up to greater danger than anyone could have possibly imagined.
