10 Moments From The Grand Tour We All Loved
The Grand Tour is the greatest motoring program... in the world!
In 2015, Top Gear fans around the world suddenly found themselves not knowing if they would ever get their fix of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond ever again.
Clarkson was fired from the show and Hammond and May left after him. The BBC have since rebooted the once flagship program several times, but failed to bring in as many viewers as they once did. There were rumours that the trio would make the move over to ITV and start a new motoring show or even head over to Netflix which at the time was really starting to pull in its subscribers. It was then announced that they had made the leap over to Amazon to front their new motoring program, The Grand Tour.
Following on from the success of Top Gear was always going to be a hard task but the guys pulled it off for three successful series, and now a string of special episodes as well as their own solo projects. With their newest special on the way, A Massive Hunt, let's take a look back at some of the best moments from The Grand Tour.
10. A New Attempt At Amphibious Cars
Clarkson, Hammond and May have never shied away from the water as it's usually where some of the show's biggest laughs come from. The trio first attempted to create three amphibious cars way back in 2006, which resulted in Hammond's "Damper Van" sinking quicker than the Titanic, Clarkson rolling his "Toybota" in the last corner, and James almost making it onto land in his Triumph Herald.
The guys gave it a second attempt the next year with all three of them sticking with their original designs. Hammond's new and improved "Damper Van" ended up picking up May after his Triumph Herald sank before it even left the harbour, only sink itself moments later. The episode ended with all three presenters onboard Clarkson's "Toybota" and heading from Dover to France. The two episodes were fan favourites so when they moved over to Amazon for The Grand Tour, it seemed only right to give it a third attempt.
In the Series 2 episode, Clarkson, Hammond and May attempt to break the British water speed record by attaching a jet engine from a plane to the back of a modified Suzuki Jimny. It results in some standout moments as Jeremy attempts to break the record on his own.
