9. The Hottest Motorhome… In The World
Series 3 gave us the fantastic episode "International Buffoons' Vacation" where we got to see Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May forced to go on an RV holiday in the southwestern United States, despite regarding such things as slow, uncomfortable and pointless.
The three guys modify their own RV homes with Clarkson attempting to assemble a powerboat on the roof of his vehicle. This means that almost everything was made out of either leather or metal. This might not seem like an issue in the UK but in the hot and open sky of southwestern United States, it just might be. The heat from the sun meant that driving from the roof was next to impossible unless wearing oven gloves or prepared to lose a little bit of skin from your fingers.
Later in the episode, we see that driving from the roof of the RV came with yet another issue. Whilst driving in the open outback, Clarkson finds himself stuck on the roof of his moving home unable to stop or regain control. He is forced to bring in the help of Hammond and May to slow him down by performing a pincer movement on his speeding RV.
