Brooklyn Nine-Nine is, without a doubt, one of the funniest shows on TV. Even during the show's darker moments, the Nine-Nine are masters of keeping the mood light and enjoyable.

However, there are certain times when the harsh reality of their jobs, lives and feelings break through and punch you right in the heart.

Since the series revolves around a police precinct, it was clear that there would be specific issues they'd need to address, meaning that the show wouldn't always get you laughing. During its seven seasons - and likely the upcoming final outing - this show has proven that it can make you cry just as much as it can make you laugh.

Thanks to the upbeat irreverence of the series, these deliberately tear-jerking moments take you off guard and make you feel the opposite of "Noice", which is what makes Brooklyn Nine-Nine one of the most surprisingly powerful shows on the air.

The following scenes are the moments that explored something a little more serious. Make sure you've got some tissues with you for this one, cause you might need them.

10. Rosa And Marcus Break Up - Into The Woods

Now, this was a moment that genuinely took you off guard, not only because of how it was presented but because of the characters involved. The episode saw as Rosa planned to break up with Marcus and enlisted the help of Holt to do so. You got plenty of typical humour around their stoic, non-emotional natures, but soon things went elsewhere.

In this scene, Holt apologises to Rosa after he witnesses her have an emotional moment post-break-up. Rosa's clearly uncomfortable with sharing her emotions, but Holt encourages her to open up, leading to an alarmingly poignant moment.

Rosa admits that she's scared she might have messed things up, as she's worried she'll never get the chance to fall in love again. She breaks down, and it's likely to bring a lump to your throat.

But then, things get even more emotional, as Holt himself begins to cry and the pair share a moment of emotional vulnerability with each other. Naturally, the scene is beautiful, as we finally get to see genuine emotion from the pair, and they grow closer as a result.
