Game Of Thrones has grown into a cultural phenomenon across the past seven seasons. It was already near legendary in the realm of fantasy novels, on a level just below The Lord Of The Rings. However, since HBO brought it to a huge audience, it’s become one of the biggest television shows of all time.

Season 8, as the final season, has fans excited like never before. Season 7 already confirmed Jon’s parentage, saw more Starks reunited, and finally brought Daenerys into the central plot. As always happens with a show this popular (and a fanbase this fervent), the internet has been flooded with predictions and fan theories.

Some, like Varys secretly being a mermaid, border on ridiculous, but others stand up surprisingly well given the evidence provided so far. These aren’t necessarily theories on what happens at ‘the end’, but rather events that might happen in the final six episodes.

Also, since every major character has various people predicting they’ll either live or die, those theories have been left out unless they’re tied to something bigger. ‘I think Arya will live because I like her’ isn’t really a theory, after all.

10. Tyrion Targaryen

This is a fairly long-running theory about the conclusion of Game Of Thrones, and while it seems at first like wishful thinking, there’s actually a lot of evidence in both the books and the show to back it up.

The most obvious evidence is that Tyrion seems able to communicate with dragons. Granted, he does retreat in fear once their anger becomes apparent, but they were being stored in the crypts at the time. They displayed a similar amount of hostility to their mother, Daenerys. It’s a wonder Tyrion wasn’t burnt alive or devoured by the beasts. The theory goes that they spared him because they sensed he had dragon blood.

Much was made of Jon’s ability to calm the dragons; it transformed Dany’s view of him at least. Season 7 saw Jon confirmed as a Targaryen, but will Season 8 see Tyrion added too?

More cryptically, there’s also the fact Tywin’s dying words were ‘you’re no son of mine’. This could just mean he hated the dwarf and never truly viewed him as family. On the other hand, it could mean Tyrion was a Targaryen bastard, with this being the true reason for Tywin’s lifelong disdain for him.
