Didn't Leela used to be deaf?

Throughout its time on the air, Futurama became incredibly popular with its fans, even managing to rise out of the shadow of The Simpsons and create its own legacy.

Thanks to excellent characters and compelling stories based on all kinds of weird and wonderful worlds, there was a lot to love about the show based in the 30th century. It was unique, and was unlike any other animated series on TV, but that's not to say that it was perfect.

Over 14 seasons, through almost 150 episodes and four movies, there were certain things that were established over the years and throughout the 1000 year time gap, that later episodes completely ignored. From the technology of the future to the logistics of creating robots and a certain sci-fi show being banned, there were a fair amount of inconsistencies in the the 31st century.

No TV show is without its mistakes, but there are moments in Futurama that made viewers wonder if the writers had ever actually watched the show before, and how such incidents ultimately made it into the final product. If fans of the show can spot such errors, how could the writers miss them?

10. The Wheel

Over the next 1000 years, there will of course be ridiculous steps taken in the world of technology, and naturally at the same time today's technology will become obsolete. This was no different in the world of Futurama, as the Planet Express crew were seemingly in the dark about one of the most basic inventions in human history.

In 'Mother's Day', Mom set her robots the task of overthrowing humanity, leaving the inhabitants of Earth to fend for themselves without the use of technology. The Professor's inventions were relegated to a sharp rock on a stick, and the crew had to depend on Fry's 20th century knowledge to sculpt the wheel.

No one else had ever heard of such a device which, as all cars in the future hovered, made sense, and while it was funny to think that such a standard thing had fallen out of the memory of everyone on Earth, there have been many occasions in which wheels have been seen in the show.

There have been robots operating with working wheels, Leela was kept in a wheeled cage before almost being eaten by Lrrr, vehicles and space pirate ships still had steering wheels, and even Bender had wheels when he became a werecar.
