10 Times Futurama Made NO Sense

9. Bender's Evolution

Professor Farnsworth is an incredibly smart man, and one of the world's top scientists, however there are some things that he has said and done that have raised more than a few eyebrows. In 'A Clockwork Origin', he and Bender engaged in an episode long argument about whether or not robots could evolve.

Bender kept on saying how he had grown and evolved through his life, and the Professor simply kept shooting him down, claiming he was as he had been built. However, just several episodes before, in 'Lethal Inspection', we see that when Bender was produced and approved by Hermes, he was a baby version of himself.

When the entire Planet Express crew began reverting through several stages of growth in 'Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles', all the way down to being babies and foetuses, Bender himself changed drastically as he got younger. In 'The Bots and the Bees', Bender had a child with Bev the soda machine, and we see him grow up from a baby through to an acne-riddled teenager.

How can a man as smart as Professor Farnsworth still argue that robots don't evolve even after seeing the majority of these events happen first hand?
