10 Weirdest Rick & Morty Storylines

The weirdest of the weird.

As far as premises for TV shows go, Rick and Morty’is up there with the craziest, as a man and his grandson travel the multiverse, battle all kinds of aliens and intangible concepts, and even occasionally try and save the world. Even if it is sometimes from themselves.

Within any individual episode, Rick’s technology and the fact that the writers have become masters at creating random one-off worlds allow the show to go anywhere it wants to. There really aren't any kind of limitations put on these stories, except the ones Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have put on themselves.

This has made for some truly weird, often unsettling storylines. These aren’t even confined to just the titular duo either. Summer, Beth, and even Jerry have been known to be thrown into the wild in spite of beginning the series as the somewhat normal background to Rick and Morty’s adventures.

Clone love, incest (both cannibalistic and non-cannibalistic), and the end of the world have all cropped up at some point for Rick and Morty, and you know these ten storylines are batsh*t crazy when Rick physically turning himself into a pickle and battling a criminal organisation doesn’t make the cut.

10. Saving Jerry From Hell

Rick has funded his scientific adventures with several different ventures over the years. From Anatomy Park to selling weapons to Crombopulous Michael, he has also tried to make money selling skin hooks to the demons of Hell.

Because said hooks were faulty, Rick was forced to pay his debt by going on a guys’ night with the demons and Jerry. The latter’s company was so cringeworthy and awkward it was painful, which of course meant that it was pleasurable to the guys with pens stabbed into their heads.

When Jerry realised and fought back, he was taken down to Hell where Rick and Beth had to go to get him back. Literal Hell. Rick has been to many weird and wonderful places with his portal gun, but going through a fiery door to Hell has to be up there with the strangest destinations.

There was a time when Jerry was reasonably grounded in his stories, particularly when compared to Rick and Morty, but having to fight their way through a hoard of demons to escape Hell with Jerry’s life couldn’t have been further from his norm.
