You can't always be a five-star man.

It is impressive that a show which has run for a whole fourteen seasons has very few bad episodes.

The series consistency is thanks to the fact that the team have worked so hard to develop a unique identity and structure for the product. Despite this, there have been a few notable slips in quality within the lifetime of Always Sunny.

All of these episodes still merit to them, as the show is so special that it always feels fun. But when it gets something wrong - it really gets it wrong. You can always see what the intention is, but at times the writers and producers simply fail to achieve them.

To talk about some of the worst moments allows us to appreciate and discuss what the show does to work so well. Only by looking at its problems will we be able to gauge its strengths. This isn't an article designed to criticise the show in general, just the times in which it didn't live up to its own standards.

This list was created by examining the ratings on IMDB, general fan reception and the writer's personal opinion. It will contain some minor spoilers.

10. The Gang Makes Paddy's Great Again

The first episode of season 13 isn't terrible. The Dennis Doll is hilarious, the plot twist is excellent, and Mindy Kaling is used well. She feels out of place, but that's the point, as the episode examines what it means to ruin the dynamic of your group for the sake of adding star power.

However, despite some well crafted moments and intentions, The Gang Makes Paddy's Great Again amounts to feeling like a filler episode to await the return of Dennis.

The narrative only revolves around how different everything will be now that he is gone. The constant focus on his absence makes it even more noticeable and obvious that he is going to be coming back, as they try to make it clear that the show won't work without him. Whilst this bait and switch is funny, it gives the season opener a purpose that feels entirely inconsequential as it will have no real impact following its conclusion.

Additionally, the insertion of Mindy Kaling does take away a significant part of the show's energy. No matter what the intention is, that still makes it disappointing.
