15 Most Hotly Anticipated New TV Shows Still To Come In 2017
Somehow, there's still a lot more TV to look forward to this year.
It's already been a great year for TV, the cable and network gods spoiling us with a stunning final season of The Leftovers, the confounding return of Twin Peaks, the ferocious The Handmaid's Tale, and, of course, the all-conquering Game of Thrones.
Now the latest major series has been and gone, with The Defenders hitting Netflix to a mixed response, the culmination of four years of planning and two years of television. Even though we're over halfway through the year, and we've had the big Emmy contenders and a lot of buzzy new series, there's still a lot more to come.
This is the era of Peak TV, after all, and it absolutely refuses to let up. We've still got the second season of Stranger Things to arrive, as well as the return of major network shows like The Walking Dead, but also a lot of exciting and intriguing brand new series to arrive before 2017 comes to a close.
15. American Vandal
Netflix made a huge splash with Making A Murderer, their own foray into the world of true crime docuseries, after the successes of podcast Serial and HBO's The Jinx.
Now they're taking aim at themselves, with a new series satirising the genre. American Vandal is a half-hour crime documentary satire, which explores the aftermath of a high-school prank that left a number of cars with penises drawn on them.
One senior is expelled for the crime, and the eight-episode series sees a student documentarian investigate the crime and the justice brought (or lack thereof), as well as trying to get to the bottom of just who drew the dicks. It sounds absurd, and the early reviews have pegged it as one of Netflix's very best original series.
