BBC and Starz are teaming up for this one, which is an adaptation of E.M. Forster's classic novel of the same name. The book has already had one big adaptation, a 1992 film starring Anthony Hopkins and Vanessa Redgrave that was met with critical acclaim, but it seems the time is ripe for a do-over.

The story takes place in turn-of-the-century England, and centres on three very different families: affluent capitalists the Wilcoxes; the half-German Schlegel siblings; and the lower-class Basts, and focuses on their relationships along with analysing social conventions of the time.

The four-episode miniseries is being led by the excellent Hayley Atwell (playing Margaret Schlegel) and Matthew Macfadyen (as Henry Wilcox), with support from Tracy Ullman, Julia Ormand and many more. Most excitingly, it's being written by the great Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester by the Sea), and directed by Hettie MacDonald (Doctor Who episode Blink).

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
