Arrow Season 8 Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Welcome To Hong Kong'

An emotional performance steals the show in Arrow Season 8's nostalgic second episode.

Arrow returned to screens last week with a season premiere that was very much a tribute to everything that the show once was - the reason being that it was, of course, the beginning of the end for the show that gave life to the Arrowverse.

But in the midst of all that nostalgia was a compelling narrative centred on one man's quest to save the multiverse from the upcoming Crisis. Unfortunately, he couldn't save every earth, as the premiere closed with one of the most shocking moments in the history of the show, as Earth-2 was completely wiped out by a wave of anti-matter. Yes, that's how serious this season is taking itself.

The second episode, 'Welcome To Hong Kong', continued to play with that serious tone as it utilised its wonderfully small cast to tell a tale that could carry on Oliver's mission and still have time to explore the repercussions of Earth-2's demise. Another strong offering, it accomplished exactly what it set out to do - once again making us all nostalgic along the way.
