Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Every Main Character RANKED
Who will come out on top? ... "Who will come out on top?", title of your sex-tape!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine first aired in 2013 and quickly became one of the most beloved sitcoms on television today.
The show is now in it’s seventh season and has amassed a strong, dedicated following thanks to its witty, off-the-wall humour, as well as its call-backs and running gags that reward long-term viewers of the show.
But it’s more than just a quirky sitcom; the show has a lot of heart and has had its fair share of serious moments. The diverse cast of characters has allowed the writers to sensitively and respectfully address some often-controversial social issues, particularly surrounding the LGBTQ+ community.
This sets Brooklyn Nine-Nine apart from many other sitcoms and gives a voice and honest representation to a community that have often been marginalised or trivialised in the past.
Despite the show's popularity, Fox inexplicably axed the sitcom in 2018 and the future of the series seemed uncertain, albeit briefly. The following day, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was immediately picked up NBC after overwhelming demand by the show’s devoted fan base.
The core cast of characters have earned themselves a place in our hearts and make choosing a favourite almost impossible, but let’s give it a try.
8. Hitchcock & Scully
The work-shy duo of Hitchcock and Scully began as supporting characters on the show but grew in popularity throughout the series, eventually being added to the title credits after Gina’s departure in Season 6.
They manage to stand out as the biggest buffoons in the squad, up against a cast of immature characters; it’s actually pretty impressive.
The exaggerated stereotype of the paunchy incompetent cops can sometimes come across as a bit cartoonish, but it has allowed the writers to push the envelope when it comes to the ridiculous situations Hitchcock and Scully end up in.
They are used sparingly in the show and often in bizarre scenarios, so much so that it’s totally believable to see the pair setting fire to the sink or Hitchcock drinking his own fish.
Often the butt of jokes in the show, they can occasionally surprise the viewers and their co-workers by stumbling upon a break in a case. They are arguably the two most unpredictable characters in the show; you never quite know just how badly they can mess up even the most simple of tasks.
