Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Ranking Every Major Death Worst To Best
Some of the biggest deaths in the Buffyverse.
Over seven seasons and 144 episodes, Buffy the Vampire Slayer became an absolute sensation and shocked its audiences with sudden character deaths, harsh scenes of violence and creepy monsters.
Through the course of the show, fans were forced to say goodbye to numerous key characters, be them villainous 'big bads', slimy high school principals, reformed vampires or even members of the Scooby Gang itself.
Many of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's biggest deaths were handled extremely well, with each demise offering something to the plot, raising the stakes (sorry...) of the show, or perfectly adding to the development of other characters. Not all of the show's demises were as successful, of course, with some feeling kind of forced and anti-climactic, but, as a whole, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was not a show that let fans down in the big moments.
With that in mind, from the Slayers, to the villains, to the ancient organisations, to the innocent good guys, and to the ones fans really aren't over even after all these years, here is every major death in Buffy the Vampire Slayer ranked worst to best.
It should go without saying, but there are major spoilers throughout.
25. The Watchers Council
On paper, the destruction of the Watchers Council was actually a big moment in Buffy's final season. Not only did it come out of nowhere, but also showed audiences just how big a threat the First Evil and its followers were.
Unfortunately, no one who watched the show really cared about the Council. The leader, Quentin Travers, and his pompous, ignorant band of sheep were mostly insufferable additions to the show, putting Buffy and Giles through the wringer whenever they showed up.
It may have been slightly surprising, but not one of them are missed.
