After four years with Big Finish, David Tennant is about to embark on his first full Doctor Who series in over a decade! Introducing Dalek Universe. David Tennant has made audio drama with Big Finish since 2016, starting with his first volume of three adventures with Donna. Since then he had been involved with two more volumes, the recent Out of Time with Tom Baker, as well as starring in an upcoming box set with River Song.

Starting in April, David Tennant is going to be starring in a nine episode series. It will see "the Doctor pulled out of time and sent back to the era before the last great Time War. Here he finds himself battling for survival in a universe full of Daleks, Mechonoids, Movellans... and Davros!". The series will be released over three box sets, as well as feature a prologue starring the Fourth Doctor, Leela, and K-9 on Exxilon.

Tennant himself has said “It's a big old epic sweep. It reminds me a little bit of those Flash Gordon serials that used to be on the TV during the school holidays when I was a kid". So if the news so far is anything to go by, we're in for one hell of a ride!

The series synopsis states that: "this time The Doctor has no TARDIS for sanctuary, and no Rose or Martha or Donna to help... but he is reunited with two faces from the distant past, two serving agents from the Space Security Service. Anya Kingdom (Jane Slavin) betrayed the Doctor in his fourth incarnation – can she make amends? Mark Seven (Joe Sims) is an artificial man with a mysterious history. Together the trio join forces to try and discover who has pulled the Doctor back in time. And more importantly – how can they help him get back home?”.

As the synopsis states, Anya Kingdom has a history with the Doctor, a history you can explore in the Fourth Doctor's Eighth Series of Big Finish Adventures.

Big Finish are at the top of their game right now, what with their usual output as well as their other huge announcements, such as their Time Lord Victorious content as well as Christopher Eccleston's return to the Ninth Doctor. Whilst Series 13 of the show may be currently delayed due to the world's current circumstances, Big Finish are on hand to give us plenty of beautiful Doctor Who audio drama goodness.
