Doctor Who: 8 Reasons The Master Is Definitely Coming Back

It's time he returned...

By Baz Greenland /

With season eight of Doctor Who still three months away, we're right in the midst of rumour season. From each camera phone-snapped picture taken of filming to every out of context quote from someone who had a guest appearance in the show five years ago. Every writer / director / actor announced announced either heralds the end of an era or a return to form (depending on if you're in the Davies or Moffat camp). The internet continues to buzz with anticipation about what the Capaldi era will bring. No other rumour has plagued season eight of Doctor Who more prominently than those surrounding the Master€™s impending return. Totally absent from the Eleventh Doctor's era (presumably because there was no-one more perfect that Benedict Cumberbatch to face off against Matt Smith), this villain is a staple of of the show as much as the Daleks and Cybermen. He was last seen sucked into Gallifrey in the climatic final days of the Time War but for someone this ingenious, becoming trapped in a bubble universe is a mere inconvenience. There are many ways in which now is the perfect time to reintroduce audiences to the arch nemesis of the Doctor. So in this article we look at some of the rumours surrounding his return, clutching to those snippets of quotes and 'news articles' like the ravenous Whovians that we are. As with anything in this show, we can't be sure until series eight is broadcast but everything we are hearing suggests that now is absolutely the right time for the Master's big return. Be warned - these are all just rumours for now, but of course there's always the chance that they might become advanced spoilers. With that in mind, click 'Next' for the first rumour...
