Production is currently well underway on this years Doctor Who Christmas special and details on plot and cast are beginning to emerge. In a recent press release given by the BBC it was confirmed that comedian Bill Bailey(Black Books), Claire Skinner(Outnumbered), Alexander Armstrong(Armstrong & Miller) and Arabella Weir(The Fast Show) will all be appearing in this years Christmas special. Claire Skinner was the first to be spotted on location last week in a 1940's style costume which sparked debate throughout internet forums. It was later confirmed her character would be called Madge Arwell.
In the recent press release it was also confirmed that the episode would be set in World War II;
"Madge Arwell and her two children, Lily and Cyril, evacuated to a draughty old house in Dorset, where the caretaker is a mysterious young man in bow tie, and a big blue parcel is waiting for them under the tree. They are about to enter a magical new world and learn that a Time Lord never forgets his debts..."
It is yet unclear what roles Bailey, Armstrong and Weir play in the Christmas special at the present time. However one thing that should be noted is the lack of credit for show regulars Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthus Darvill (Rory Williams). What does head writer and show runner Steven Moffat have planned for Amy and Rory in the season finale? Time will tell.
