Doctor Who isnt known for its subtleties. This isnt Mad Men or Game of Thronesits a family show about running away in a blue box. Solutions tend to involve technical babble or big friendly buttons, and the episodes are so short that its rare for a moment to linger. Still, there are sometimes awesome touches added to the show. A background expression or movement can change a scene entirely. A joke can fly by so fast or be so subtle its almost impossible to notice on first viewing. And a poignant moment can go so fast theres no time to see it. Life is short and not everyone has time to obsessively watch these episodes, so read on for a list--by episode--of the best things you may have missed, starting with the Christmas special!
The Snowmen
Claras an odd bird, especially for a Victorian. Its not every girl who would run after a strange man in the middle of the night, climb on top of his cab while wearing a dress, then break in and poke her head through the ceiling (you can tell the episode was written by a man if you think about the physical contortion necessary for that scene, which Clara apparently performed in a low-cut dress). But what really sells Clara as the Doctors kind of weird is her expression in the background of the Memory Worm scene. Normal people see a mind-raping worm and are freaked out, but look at Claras face! Shes absolutely fascinated! She bends down to get a better look! Props to Jenna-Louise Coleman for this one.
