Did Game of Thrones really just kill off one of its biggest characters? No, not Stannis (although his fate is also still up in the air), or Myrcella Baratheon (who is almost definitely dead), or Meryn Trant (there sure was a lot of death in the season finale), but of course Jon Snow. While it has long been established that no one is safe on the show, there were thought to be exceptions. Namely Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Bran and Arya Stark, and Jon. George R.R. Martin has previously stated these are the five wholl survive the entire series, and the show has very much established them - perhaps with the exception of Bran - as the key characters. Jon, played by Kit Harrington, is unquestionably one of the leads. There had been subtle hints at the impending mutiny throughout the season, mostly involving Olly giving him the stink-eye, but it still came as a hugely shocking moment when, at the end of Mothers Mercy, brothers of the Nights Watch lined-up to have their turn stabbing Jon "for the Watch". The Lord Commander is such a key part of the show, however - not just in terms of the current story, but where it is headed in terms of the overall endgame - that it seems unbelievable he is actually dead, or at least dead permanently. The show has played with misdirection and resurrection before, so heres a look at how we could be seeing Jon back in season 6
