Gotham Season 3: 6 Ups And 3 Downs From 'New Day Rising'
If it weren't for you, I'd still be falling asleep to the screams of the insane.
With no small thanks to the splendid Jervis Tetch and his Alice obsession, this was a quality, entertaining episode of Gotham. Each plot and subplot, as well as the acting and directing, hints at even better things to come.
It is ridiculously refreshing to see that the live action debut of a character who could have been easily miscast and misrepresented has been avoided on Gotham of all places. Hatter has always been underrated as a character and great news; there are plentiful splendid Hatter stories for you to read if interested.
In New Day Rising, the Hatter arrived and made a man make the impossible possible. People actually preached the name 'Cobblepot' during a funeral pyre and Penguin gave options that were more akin to ultimatums.
Alfred also got outboxed by the Game of Thrones version of Bruce who can apparently feel no pain (which would make him less or more goth?). Clone Bruce left a mark. Plenty actually, mostly black and blue. Finally, there was no ham to share and many actors thankfully refrained from indulging themselves on pork, despite Fish not being around to scarf it down.
This was one of the best - if not the best - episodes of Gotham to date, and here's everything it got right (and what was a little too mad).
