Netflix's Marvel Universe: 10 Major Reveals From Comic-Con 2016
Sweet Christmas!
Comic-Con is like Christmas for fans of all things geek, and it was a Sweet Christmas indeed for anyone who cares about Marvel's Netflix shows (which, let's face it, should be everyone).
SDCC 2016 kicked off on Thursday, and while there were a few other panels of interest (Luc Besson brought a look at his latest, Valerian, which will probably be insane), the biggie from day one was the Marvel TV/Luke Cage panel. Bringing the cast of Netflix's next Marvel series to Hall H, it was expected to peel off the layers of the series, a show we've not seen all that much of yet.
They didn't disappoint, with a trailer that has been made available for everyone to watch, plus a couple of exclusive clips that may or may not leak. There were some interesting reveals, and based on the new trailer the show looks great - just different enough from Daredevil and Jessica Jones - but it wasn't all about Luke Cage.
In typical Comic-Con fashion, there were a few surprises up the sleeve of Marvel TV's President Jeph Loeb, who brought Jon Bernthal with him to the panel, had some news for Daredevil fans, and gave us a look at another two upcoming series.
10. Daredevil Season 3
Daredevil is the series that started it all, the first of the Marvel/Netflix shows, and its success has paved the way for all the rest. In fact, it was so successful that plans for their other series altered, so that a second season could come sooner, and given that was similarly well-received it's perhaps no surprise that a third season is on its way.
It was really just a matter of waiting for it to be confirmed. Its popularity made it inevitable, and Season 2 ensured plenty of threads were left hanging for a potential third season.
There was no news on just what it might concern, but given Season 2 was teasing an adaption of Born Again (the Daredevil story), it seems pretty likely that's what we're going to get in Season 3, which is all kinds of exciting.
