It looks like the new Munsters series is getting a bit of a face lift. TVLine is reporting that the NBC show will be getting a brand new name and a brand new personality. The plan for a pilot was originally announced late last year, and has since entered into pre-production and will soon be casting. Showrunner Bryan Fuller (Pushing Dasies) and director Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects) will still be taking the lead on The Munsters series, but it will now be called Mockingbird Lane a thinly veiled reference to the address of the Munster families residence, 1313 Mockingbird Lane (don€™t it just give you chills?). More details on the show remain fairly vague, but there will most likely be a departure from the original series, which had a dark but family oriented vibe. Fuller and Singer both have the shadowy streak down, but it may be tailored to a more adult audience. It would be hard to recreate the satirical vigor of the original Munsters or Fred Gwynne€™s Herman for that matter. But I€™m willing to give it a chance and see where it goes.
