In Star Trek, the Milky Way galaxy is filled with strange and unique anomalies with mind-boggling abilities, sometimes even possessing powers or effects not seen anywhere else.

Anomalies in space include any object or point in the cosmos that behaves oddly, or where the laws of physics become distorted. They can affect space, time, subspace, or even a humanoid mind. These anomalies are often many times the size of planets, or even entire solar systems, and have the potential to revolutionise the Federation's technology and scientific knowledge. However, most of the strangest anomalies in Trek have only been seen a few times, despite being among the most fascinating objects Starfleet has ever encountered. Chances are that more specialised teams were sent in to study them, but we rarely get to see this onscreen. Because of this, they can be easy to forget.

This list will be taking a deeper look into ten of the strangest and most forgotten space anomalies that Starfleet has ever encountered.

10. The Void

The Void is a spatial anomaly that Voyager became trapped inside in the episode The Void. It's an enclosed space devoid of all matter and energy, apart from the ships pulled in through funnels that can randomly open in normal space.

When Voyager arrived, many of the other ships within it had turned to piracy to gain control over the limited resources they had available. Eventually, with the help of some new allies and a mysterious species thought to be native to the anomaly, Voyager was able to escape the Void, freeing several other trapped ships in the process.

However, the Void likely still exists, pulling in countless helpless vessels throughout the Delta Quadrant. It can be assumed that the Void has already existed for generations, as it's unlikely the native humanoid species originated there, given the lack of any organic chemistry or planets. They most likely evolved from some alien species that was pulled into the anomaly long ago.

After helping the other ships leave the Void, these aliens decided to stay, as they saw the anomaly as their home.
