So far, Supergirl's fourth season has focused on the perception of alien life in America and how different people respond to immigration of all kinds. Not only is that an incredibly clever way of trying to reach vieiwers with important messages, especially the importance of acceptance, it has set the stage for this season's new Big Bad, Agent Liberty.

This week's episode, 'Man of Steel' decided to take some time away from the main storyline to focus on how the man behind the golden mask became the villain that he is today. In doing so, it allowed us to understand his motivations and, quite frankly, made him a much more interesting character.

Unfortunately, all this backstory made for a truncated present-day narrative, but the episode didn't conclude without Lena Luthor providing the D.E.O. (and us viewers) with a solution to Earth's kryptonite problem... well, for Kara at least.

Aside from one glaringly obvious plothole, 'Man of Steel' was another strong outing that offered something a little bit different to its predecessors and, in doing so, it provided us with some much-needed clarity surrounding Agent Liberty. Contains spoilers.
